Caution Cinema addresses the vital need for safety awareness among British dock workers. Our response materialised as a striking pop-up experience housed within a shipping container, an everyday sight in the dock environment. Within this transformed space, we achieved full immersion and engagement, eectively capturing participants' attention for essential safety video presentations. This project went beyond expectations, disrupting the mundane and reinforcing the gravity of the safety message across British ports. The challenge was twofold - create an educational venue, and compel these dedicated individuals to pause and prioritise their safety amidst the relentless rhythm of their workday. This dynamic presented an opportunity to leverage familiar elements of the dockside environment to eect change and enhance awareness. In response, we conceived 'Caution Cinema,' a concept born from careful consideration of the client's goals and the realities faced by dock workers. Embracing the ubiquity of shipping containers in this setting, we transformed one into a colourful, captivating space. The container's interior was adorned with vibrant, sound-absorbing acoustic foam, creating a semi-anechoic chamber that shielded participants from external distractions. This unique environment ensured that every mind was fully engrossed in the safety video presentations, making the experience startlingly eective. Our approach was marked by a commitment to elevating the ordinary, turning a commonplace shipping container into something extraordinary. In our endeavour to maximise the impact of 'Caution Cinema,' sustainability was an unspoken cornerstone of our design ethos. We recognised that sustainability extends beyond explicit measures, embracing a holistic approach that considered energy eciency, durability, and material selection. 'Caution Cinema' embodies this commitment through its adaptability, the potential for reuse, and its capacity to engage and educate in an eco-conscious manner, ultimately promoting safer practices within British ports.
